Highlighting the Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary - Preston's Charity Partner of the Year 2025

Bowker’s Preston Distribution Centre Chooses Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary as 2025 Charity Partner

Bowker’s Preston Distribution Centre is proud to be supporting Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary throughout 2025 as its chosen charity of the year.

The partnership will see staff from the Preston site getting stuck into all kinds of fundraising activities, all to help the amazing team at Bleakholt continue the work they do for animals in need.

Based in Edenfield, Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary is one of the North West’s most-loved animal charities. For over six decades, they’ve provided a safe haven for dogs, cats, farm animals, and small pets who have been abandoned, mistreated, or simply need a fresh start. The sanctuary relies entirely on donations and the generosity of supporters to keep going, and with hundreds of animals coming through its doors each year, every bit of help counts.

An ambitious initiative

Recently, Bleakholt launched Project Purrfect, an ambitious initiative focused on enhancing their cat facilities to provide a more comfortable and stimulating environment for their feline residents, costing them £300,000. This project underscores the sanctuary's commitment to continuous improvement and ensuring the well-being of every animal in their care.

In addition to large-scale projects, Bleakholt frequently reaches out to the community through heartfelt appeals on their Facebook page. These posts highlight individual animals either in search of their forever homes, or for those in urgent need of medical attention or special care, rallying supporters to contribute towards life-saving treatments and rehabilitation efforts. Such stories not only demonstrate the sanctuary's dedication but also the vital role that public support plays in their operations.

Bleakholt on a mission of social media growth

Alongside these developments, Bleakholt is also on a mission to grow its presence on social media, particularly Instagram and TikTok, where engaging videos not only raise awareness but also have the potential to generate vital funds once key follower milestones are reached. With an exciting year ahead full of new and creative fundraising initiatives designed for people of all ages, Bleakholt is set to lead the way in reimagining how animal sanctuaries connect with the world. From hands-on projects to fun, digital campaigns, the sanctuary is determined to bring hope to animals in need while injecting joy and innovation into the wider community.

As part of this forward-thinking approach, Bleakholt will also be launching a brand-new schools programme in September, aimed at educating and inspiring the next generation about animal welfare, kindness, and responsibility. In addition, the sanctuary is revamping its much-loved Summer Open Day, transforming it into a bigger, better, and more interactive event that the whole family can enjoy. With fresh energy and big ideas, 2025 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Bleakholt.

Fundraising activities aim to ignite contributions

Understanding the importance of these endeavors, Bowker’s Preston team is eager to contribute throughout 2025. A series of fundraising activities are planned, with all proceeds aimed at supporting Bleakholt's ongoing projects and daily operations. Whether it's participating in sponsored events, organising community fundraisers, or volunteering time, Bowker colleagues are committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of the animals at Bleakholt.
