Bowker’s Selby Distribution Centre raises over £3,600 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance in 2024

Bowker's Selby Distribution Centre (DC) has announced a remarkable fundraising achievement for 2024, raising £3,673.44 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA). The amount was raised through a series of creative fundraising events held throughout the year.

Each year, the team at each of Bowker’s 11 distribution centres selects a charity to support through dedicated fundraising efforts. Employees at each centre engage in a wide range of activities, to generate awareness and raise essential funds. The team at Bowker firmly believe that the support and contributions of local businesses play a vital role in creating a positive impact within their communities.

A Year of Giving Back

The fundraising efforts were spearheaded by the dedicated team at Bowker’s Selby DC who organised a variety of activities. This included company bake sales, sponsored challenges (including Transport Manager Joe Jackson taking part in the Great North Run), raffles and auctions.

Bowker's Selby General Manager, Joe Caunce, expressed gratitude for the collective effort that made the fundraising a success. "We are incredibly proud of our team for their enthusiastic participation in our events. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance provides an indispensable service to our community, with some of our team members have personal stories connected to their incredible work. It feels great to contribute to such a worthy cause."

About Yorkshire Air Ambulance

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is a life-saving charity providing rapid emergency response across Yorkshire. The highly skilled team are able to respond in urgent cases where they can start specialised treatment as the scene. The YAA are not government funded and relies solely on donations to maintain its vital services.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance operates two helicopters and provides a rapid response to emergencies across the region. It costs around £19,000 a day to keep the helicopters airborne, highlighting the importance of ongoing community support.
